Final Brick Added to Durham Cathedral LEGO Build

The LEGO Certified Professional Team at Bright Bricks have been working with Durham Cathedral on an exacting brick built replica of the historic building. The model was designed in such a way that members of the public could add bricks to the modular build, with a donation for each piece added.

It has been part of the fundraising activity for the Open Treasure project, an exhibition showcasing Durham Cathedral’s collection of historic artifacts. Monday will see the last brick added to the build, completing the 300,000 brick project that has raised £300,000 towards the £10.9 million the exhibition needs.

The Chronicle Live reports:

The final brick will be added to the scale replica of the historic landmark on Monday. Pearl Richardson, seven, from Newcastle is the lucky brick-layer after winning a competition draw.

The schoolgirl’s father Scott works as a stonemason with the cathedral’s work yards team, and she has regularly visited the landmark to see the project in progress with her twin brother Murray.
